Day 87

One of the most obnoxious ways to start the day also happens to be a frequent habit of mine, which is sleeping past my alarm clock. It drives me crazy to wake up late and have to rush around to be somewhere on time (or as close to the time you were supposed to be there!) So anyway I woke up 15 minutes past the time that I was supposed to meet a friend for coffee and literally took the world's fastest shower to get there as quickly as I could. It was not the ideal way to start the morning, but everything was smooth sailing from there! I discovered the power of the student voice by speaking to the head of my department about lack of courses available for registration (which is a concern for everyone in the PR major) and I can honestly say that was a pretty rewarding feeling. It's crazy what you can accomplish when you take the time to speak up for what you believe in.. even when everyone around you has the same concern I am astounded by how many people choose to just complain or ignore it rather than take action. When it's my tuition on the line, I am not going to sit around and complain!!! That is definitely not effective and has proved really pointless time and time again. I'm glad that I could speak up on behalf of my friends and peers and accomplish something worthwhile today, despite waking up on the wrong side of the bed!
