Laugh it off
I'm a believer in laughter as the best medicine, and I found a great quote today that I wanted to share:
"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter." (E.E. Cummings.)
Sometimes it's the uncontrollable fits of laughter that you need to remind yourself how great life really is. Even if you aren't having the best day - maybe you're surrounded by great friends, family, etc. who can lift you up! What made you laugh today? Share your stories here!

Revamp!
The Daily Challenge site is undergoing a few changes in the next couple of weeks (I'm in need of some change!) I added a "favorite posts" page - in the top left corner - where you can find my favorite blog posts that are inspirational, just for fun, insight from others and some tips or advice. Let me know if there are any others you would like to see added. :)
I will be changing a few other things around as well.. stay tuned for a new look! In the meantime I have a good quote to share for today -
"Waste no more time talking about great souls and how they should be. Become one yourself!" (Marcus Aurelius Antoninus)
Thanks for reading. Happy Sunday! :)

Hello Universe, can you do me a favor...?
"Call out to the Universe and it will ANSWER."
That was the sign that greeted me in front of the house near the film school today on my way to class. (One of these days I swear I am going to stop there and wait to meet the person who writes these signs! I am always so intrigued and curious where he comes up with his thoughts.) I started thinking.. what do I want from the Universe? What answer am I waiting for?
I think this is something that changes day to day. Maybe one day you need a moment of calm. Maybe another day you need a friend to cheer you up. Maybe next week you need opportunity. And two months from now you need rest. Is it too much to ask the Universe for world peace? Or 100% of the human race to be content? Or for every greedy person to realize their short comings and feel guilty? I guess I don't really know the answer to this (I don't think there is one) so I'm going to stick with something simple. I'm calling out to the Universe for something for everyone - that each person share happiness with someone in their life, who will then pass it along to someone else - creating "the domino effect" of paying it forward. I honestly believe that when you are happy, you are more likely to share that with others, and positively influence their mood and perception of each day. This quote also reminded me of "The Secret" and the idea that you have the power to "will" anything into your life if you want it enough. I don't necessarily think of this as material possessions, although I'm sure it could be, but more in the sense of particular experiences or opportunities that you want to bring into your life.
So take a moment today to ask the Universe for what you want. And let me know when you have an answer!

Today is your day
I made a conscious effort to make other people smile today....and that made me happy.
So happy in fact, that I realized I was in a pretty good mood the whole day, despite the growing pile of homework and other things I have to get done. It's funny how the little things really make a difference.
So to continue with today's trend of finding joy in other people's smiles and laughter and cheerful stories, what made YOU smile? What do you love about this day?

Define "happy"
On a whim I googled the word "happy" just to see what the top results would be. Not surprisingly, the number one result was a Wikipedia entry for the word, followed by several websites that supplied the definition of "happy."
The list goes on and on. My point being that everyone has a different definition for what "happy" means. In order to know if you're "happy" or fulfilled in your own life, don't you need to know how you, yourself define it? For me, happy means many things:
- According to Wikipedia: Happiness is a state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, love, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy.[1] A variety of biological, psychological, religious, and philosophical approaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources.
- Dictionary.Com says: –adjective,-pi·er, -pi·est. 1. delighted, pleased, or glad, as over a particular thing: to be happy to see a person. 2. characterized by or indicative of pleasure, contentment, or joy: a happy mood; a happy frame of mind. 3. favored by fortune; fortunate or lucky: a happy, fruitful land. 4. apt or felicitous, as actions, utterances, or ideas. 5. obsessed by or quick to use the item indicated (usually used in combination): a trigger-happy gangster. Everybody is gadget-happy these days.

- Discovering and learning new things about the world and myself
- Waking up each morning to the opportunity to make every day wonderful
- Sharing positive thoughts and stories with those around me
