All you need is LOVE

I took a break from blogging yesterday and decided, on a whim, to have a day of pure enjoyment! A couple friends and I went to Newport and spent the afternoon at the beach and walking around the cute shops downtown and eventually ended up at the mall on our way home. I'll admit, I had a lot of things that I felt "needed" to get done, but it was such a beautiful day outside that I had to take advantage of it! And you know what? Things really do have a way of working out because that long list of stuff is slowly being crossed off one by one, and I know that it's all going to get done eventually! (This is something that has taken me a long time to figure out, I usually don't ever take breaks until 1)spring break or 2) the end of finals week!) It was one of the most perfect afternoons I've had in a while and I took this picture specifically as a reminder to myself (when I'm scrambling to finish my homework or whatever else I had originally planned on doing yesterday) that it was completely worth it. My advice? Take an afternoon or an evening to enjoy!

Since I am technically blogging for two days today, it can't be ignored that today is Valentine's day! That being said, Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! I think today's a great day to spread LOVE to everyone. Friends, family, significant others, strangers. Everyone needs a smile, a hug, a kind thought, or maybe even a cheesy box of candies and a Hallmark greeting card (let's be honest, we all secretly love them!) It'd be even better if the cheer and joy that surrounds this holiday could be recreated in every single day. How do you celebrate today? Any special traditions or things you do to show the people in your life how much you care about them?

  1. What wonderfully romantic thing did I do with my husband of 17 years? We took the kiddos to Sears and bought a new fridge! Ha ha...but the important part was that we laughed about it. Laughter goes hand-in-hand with love that lasts forever! Your day at the beach sounded heavenly...the California beach experience is much different than the Oregon beaches. Ha ha. Cheers! --Stefanie

  2. When we understand that all we are here to do is to spread love to all those we meet and know....the rest is simple.
