Keep your eyes open

A funny thing happened today while I was on a run with my friend, (but the funnier part is that it wasn't the first time this happened.) While we were running I happened to spot something on the ground, did a quick U-turn, and picked up a $5 bill. Pretty sweet to think that I got paid to go running! Last time it was a one dollar bill so I'm thinking maybe next time it will be $10? This brings me to a point: keep your eyes open! SEE everything around you.

You never know what you might find.

  1. Great point! This made me think of how often we go about our day (grocery shopping, picking up drycleaning, going to the bank, picking up kids at school, going to work out, going out to dinner) and how many interactions we have the possibility to have...but much of the time we are heads-down trying to just get the task done. I've used this example when I've given writing workshops before--if a person walked into the room and then walked out, everyone might have a different description of what that person looked like...but the key is to pay attention to details. (I also try to remind my son of this as he's racing through the nature paths and not paying attention to the little things along the way!) Here's smilin' at you! --Stefanie

  2. It's so true! When you pay attention you start to notice a million details that you may have easily overlooked otherwise. Makes you wonder how much you've missed when you weren't paying attention..

  3. Hey, one problem I see here. If you are getting paid to run won't that violate your amateur status and knock you out of the next summer olympics? Jim will be jealous you found $5, he hasn't bragged about finding money in a while.

  4. Came here today to get some positive vibes, and as usual it works every time! I had a recent experience about keeping my eyes open and "seeing" everything that led me to rescind our home loan refinance due to red flags with the transaction, and in the end we saved ourselves thousands of $$$ by going in another direction. So, I agree that it pays to Keep Your Eyes Open!
