Noteworthy: Week of Feb. 20

Here are a few cool things that you don't want to miss this week...
  • New album releases: Tuesday, Feb. 22 Adele will release the highly anticipated '21' (after winning a Grammy for '19' two years ago), G. Love will release 'Fixin to Die,' (which you can listen to the entire thing streamed here), and The Low Anthem will release 'Smart Flesh.' It seriously feels like Christmas with all of these incredible new albums!
  • Vote for the cover of Rolling Stone: I randomly started receiving Rolling Stone magazine in the mail (apparently somehow I opted into that subscription, no idea how that happened!) There was a several page spread in the latest issue detailing their latest event, an opportunity to provide one of sixteen unsigned artists with a record deal and featured on the cover of the magazine later this year. I listened to samples from all the artists today and was impressed with a few in particular which I'll share below. In any case if you have a few free minutes and are interested in hearing quality talent, check it out.
  • In case you missed it... Lady Gaga released her new song 'Born This Way' last week, and while I believe it sounds suspiciously similar to Madonna and have no desire to purchase it on iTunes, a young girl in Toronto did a cover version of the song which blew my mind. Regardless of your feelings toward Gaga, you have to give this girl some credit for the incredible talent she exhibits. Oh and by the way, it almost has 8 million views after four days. No big deal.

My favorites from the Rolling Stone contest:

The Sheepdogs 'Southern Dreaming'

Skyler Stonestreet 'Dream Away'

Leila Broussard 'Don't Let Go'

Fictionist 'Blue Eyed Universe'
